To guard against mistakes in relation to deceased patients NLSVet performs two actions when 'Euthanasia' is selected from the category drop list on the consultation form:

1. A warning message notifies of any outstanding reminders for this patient.
2. You are asked to set the Euthanasia status for this patient. When set, the colour on all consultations for this patient changes permanently to 'Euthanasia colour'

NLSVet can be instructed to pick up a word of your choosing instead of euthanasia, i.e. 'deceased'.
